Take a stroll along the shore on a sunny day and see what treasures turn up! This class will introduce you to free form machine piecing for the basic design. Then add machine appliqued rocks to draw the eye into the piece. Free motion machine quilting will provide texture and dimension onto which you will add “seaweed” yarn and shells and debris in a mixed media technique.
Here are a few pix from Sat. 4-28-12 workshop of Poppies in Keene NH. Everyone had fun and made themselves a unique piece! From machine applique and piecing to adding 3D elements, the ladies each created a one of a kind masterpiece.
Here are a few more one day workshops to choose from. 1. “A Day at the Beach” A 10″ x 10″ piece with free form machine piecing, machine applique, machine quilting and added texture from yarn and broken sea shells. 2. “Machine Free Motion Quilting Sampler Pillow” 18″ x 18″ This class is designed to help you relax and flow with your machine instead of fighting with it! We work to connect the brain and hand, sometimes harder than it looks. 3. “Lady Slipper Trapunto Sampler” 16″ x 20″ We experiment with different techniques of trapunto from the ancient way to the machine way! Then play with colored pencils, markers, and crayons to ‘color’ the flowers.
Hi all, It’s been a hectic few months and here is a peek into those projects.
The first is a 4 piece set of 6 1/2″ squares titled “Along the Beaded Path”. It is currently at the League of New Hampshire Headquarters gallery for a show titled “Giving Back” from April 13 through June 20, 2012.
The other is for the outside show “The Mythology of Rochester” in Rochester NH. This is a public art exhibit where two artists, one writer and one sculptor submitted a myth, either real or fictional, about the Rochester NH area and a sculpture to accompany it. I got the idea to do this and asked Ross Bachelder to write a myth to include elements I’ve been wanting to try. He was very thorough in ferreting out little known facts about the region in the 17th century which he wove into the story, Textilia, and we were on a roll! This piece will be on exhibit from June 1 through Nov.4, 2012. It is treated and ‘sculpted’ and varnished to be weather proof. It is one of the new generation of my “Crystal Quilts”.
Well now, I’ve taken suggestions from friends and family, in my quest for “Small Stuff”. These designer luggage tags will add zing to your travels! And aid in identification. The ‘window’ accommodates a business card or write on the accompanying card. I’m offering them for $15.00 each or 2 for $25.00
